What size bung is needed ? And ware from?
It appears to be tapered too.

Somerford suggest a 5/16" unf 1/2" set screw

Plus a close fitting fibre or copper washer I'd suggest as it is a vacuum point

Or some PTFE tape wound around the thread.

Don't forget the jointing compound when using hemp. ;)

Jointing compound......... is that the red stuff that we used to call RAZ.......? That brings back some memories of my apprenticeship and a part time job I had in my first year at uni. RAZ and that putrid smelling hemp stuff......

Stag Jointing compound was red, used with hemp or asbestos grommets also face to face joints also the brown Hematite. :)

I remember using hemp at college when we had to do a bit of plumbing on steel pipes with threaded joints. The jointing compound was like runny linseed oil putty. These days I guess you would use Boss White.
