early gear box selector rods

Hi, advice seek to use selector rods between 3 syc and 4 syc boxes, can we use the 3 syc 1/2 selector rods 22A167 to replace the 4 syc 22G821 rods?
Also for 3/4 selector rods 22A168 to replace 22G822 as well?

The shift rods are different between 3 sync and 4 sync versions. The drilling for the grub screws are in different locations.
Refreshed my memory by going to the Somerford website.
