Eyeball fresh air vents dismantle

Post by Robbie224 »

Have a early 1971 1275GT it should have the chromed fresh air swivel direction vents.
In the past ones I have in mini have been hand painted a silver colour but no where near chrome but they are the rubber twist knob correct ones.
Does any one know if the eyeball assembly can be dismantled so I can get the directional vents out and chromed and refitted.
Thanks

I have done this with Innocenti air vents.
There is a ring, that holds the eyeball in place. This ring has some sort of "bajonett fittig", BUT it's also glued!
You need to break that glue away. I used a wide screwdriver to so this.
The glue is quite brittle and makes weird crunchy noises while doing this, but at least from my expierience the plastic wont break!
