My question is regarding the hole in the firewall (bulkhead) for ducting fresh air to the heater. Can anyone tell me when this first appeared? I have seen pictures of 1961 models with either a blanking plate or the ducting in place. I don't recall seeing it on any 1959's or 60's so wonder if the change was in calendar year 1961.
thanks in advance,
Brian

Today on Car & Classic ( advert ref no C1417918 ).. there is a 1960 Austin Seven .. the area you mention on this car is hidden with a fuse box but there does Not seem to be any blank covering the heater duct hole.

Re: Fresh Air Heater Ducting
I thought it was phased in towards end of 61, dont think ever seen a 62 onwards car without one.
May well be completely wrong though
