Anybody have a pic of how the flat piece of rubber and little metal
guide are mounted where the brake cable goes thru the floor. My
mechanical dyslexia is killing me Also are there two fairleads per
cable or one???????
I was later able to check against my own 66 and that had the felt seals top and bottom. I've no view on the rubber being better or not but you may find fitting the screws more of a challenge with two made of the thicker material. You can of course always get slightly longer screws, and I used stainless ones to replace the very rusty originals.
Some repro plates aren't quite correct if you are fussy, they pull in at the sides from being pressed, whereas others are more square like the originals

This topic should help.
My 1966 “S” has twin brakes.
Each cable has a metal guide and rubber pad both in the car and under the car.

I'm not sure if originality is of importance here, but the material used wasn't solid rubber. It's a type of tar soaked Jute.
Yes....., it was stuff called 'roofing felt'. It found and formed its own shape to fit around the cable. Recently re-did mine. Easy to take apart but a bit of a bugger to re-do with the exhaust in place. 2 man job. One inside screwing and holding. Another underneath holding plates, felt, nuts and washers!
