Just purchase some hose that the dia is a little smaller
than the tubing, cut lengthwise and fold over tubing. I used
three different sizes for my car, one for hydro, one for gas and
one for brake. What GraemeC said
This is the hydro line but it's all the same.

I may be wrong (quite often am), but, I think the nylon sleeves were on the hydro lines only......
Don't think the brake and gas lines had them.......

The brake lines were fitted with thin sleeves...most likely prior to the flaring on the ends were done. Shrink tubing works ....use the thicker wall shrink tubing. Just position the pieces (approx.1" lengths) where you want them and a gentle warm with a heat gun ensures permanent position.
Unfortunately, can only be done before you install the lines.

Thanks all, some good suggestions here. I'll get hold of some pipe and open it up - not like this is going to be on display after all!

Re: Rubber sleeve for brake lines under the car..
On Australian built cars the brake pipes had a short split rubber sleeve, part 6K751. They just slipped over the pipe in appropriate spots where rubbing could occur.
The hydro lines had a split green sleeve cut in a diagonal from nylon tubing so it wrapped around the pipe and stayed in place.
Nothing special with either sleeve so alternatives should be easy to make.
