Clutch line distance measurement LHD

Post by 65MK1S »

Anybody happen to know how long the line from the clutch master
cylinder to the slave union is on a left hand drive car? This line was
missing from the "kit" I purchased :(
Thanks
Kent

A quick answer is that the lengths, in inches, of all the brake lines is shown against them in the parts list.

Although, I have found a few mistakes in the AKD books as regards lengths indicated......

Just to check, I take a piece of solid 12ish gauge copper wire, and, bend up the one I am working on.....Straighten it out, and, there's your length.....

For what it's worth...the measurement I gave was off a lhd '66 Cooper S I've got sitting out back with the engine out.

When I make mine I put a flare on one end then bend the pipe leaving some excess, and only finally cut it (allowing for flare) once I've line it all end, then do the final flare. Don't forget to put the first nut on before you bend as they don't go around corners though.

While we're there, similar idea to BWA and the copper wire trick is to push a length of flexible bicycle brake cable up through the old pipe, add 5mm for the flares and that's it. So simple even I could do it!
