turned out to be "oval" big-ends on the rods, possibly caused from a "run" bearing at some time in the past. that someone just changed the bearing shells.
sounds like worn main bearings??

I've had a similar issue, and the car would also over-heat at anything over 50MPH.
turned out to be "oval" big-ends on the rods, possibly caused from a "run" bearing at some time in the past. that someone just changed the bearing shells.
