Piston and Rod Orientation - 1098 cc

Started to assemble the engine today and I suspect that the machine shop fitted my pistons back to front in relation to the con rods.

Am I right in thinking that the 'FRONT' marking should read the right way up when viewed from the front of the engine block as it's installed in the engine bay?

The pistons have a horizontal split beneath the lower ring on the opposite side to the FRONT lettering and nothing on the front - my presumption is this split should be on the manifold side of the engine?

The pistons are located on the rod with a circlip either side - in the event that these are back to front, is this something I can do myself? The machining was done many years ago now and I doubt I'll get much change from taking them back some seven years later :D :D

Re the offset; do you mean the way it’s thicker on one side at the big end?

Also, is it right that the horizontal slot under the scraper ring should be on the manifold side of the engine?

There are 2 pairs of rods on a small bore engine. You need the offset rods on the right pistons or it’ll lock up the crank

Normally the front side of the piston goes towards the water pump end
