1st Motion Nose Bearing
Hi all, I little assistance required! I am rebuilding the 333(Y) box in my 970, sadly with straight cut gears as the originals went years ago , and I am about to fit the nose bearing to the 1st motion end with a new bearing (AAU8424) and it won't fit. The bearing appears too small for the shaft. Am I missing anything ? I assume it is an interference fit and the circlip is for belt and braces. Are there different sizes? Advice appreciated. Thanks

Re: 1st Motion Nose Bearing
To my knowledge there are two first motion outer support bearings. Both have the same bore dia. the one most seen is std on everything but factory Metro turbos which carry a larger OD bearing and special housing. Yes, the support bearing is a press fit. I remove the rollers and remove the inner race with a Snap-On battery connection puller. Normally drift a new one in place with a socked and small hammer. You may want to use a mike to check if someone has mushroomed the end beating on it. Steve (CTR)

Re: 1st Motion Nose Bearing
Steve, thank you . I measured the end and as you said slightly mushroomed. A slight adjustment and the bearing went straight on with a little persuasion. Thanks . Mark
