Hi.
I picked a set of these up in a job lot. Please can anyone tell me what sort of year these are from? I've not seen ones where the plungers is held in by a screw in plate before. Thanks

They're the early ones, not sure of the change over though.
I need a couple of plungers if you have any knackered ones?!

Thanks for your reply Steve. Sorry but I only have the one set of catches.
Anyone else have an idea on fitment date?

I am pretty sure the metal latches were replaced with the plastic version in the middle of 1963.

From memory there’s a part number stamped under the gasket. Perhaps someone might be able to tell the changeover from that?

Re: Stainless window catches
I may be wrong here but, I don't think those are from a mini. The early metal ones didn't have the stud below the screw. Early glass has one hole for the early one.
The later metal ones do have that stud but these look like the ones used on old Ferraris Issogonis brought the idea to the Mini
Could be wrong...

Re: Stainless window catches
They’re definitely mini
- The very early ones didn’t have the lug to stop them spinning
- Then there’s the type with the plate and screws
- Finally the type with the washer. I assume this is the latest type as it’d be the cheapest to make?
Strangely they both have the same part number - and these were made by Wilmot Breeden. The screw ones are my favourite as they are easier to service and tend not to explode apart
