I paid £30 for a full set back in 1968 so maybe a bit more now.

Probably all depends on how much use its had .

Sometimes they can be very rough on first gear

A complete straight cut set in a 1071 box sold recently on eBay. The casing had been repaired so difficult to judge the value of that, but this is what i went for, with carriage on top

It wasn't the gears in that box that brought the money, it was the case.......Probably would have sold for the same price empty....

A basic set of used 3 synch gears, no box, (so long as first gear wasn't trashed), couldn't reasonably be worth any more than 100 pounds, max 150 if they are in good condition.....

A couple of years ago I was watching this eBay auction, most of two complete sets for £345 final total
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/254056012730
(before I decided to build my 333 gearbox using NOS helical, a much more expensive option!)

Another more recent but quite heavily used bare set didn’t sell at £130
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/224172305106

So £150 for a good used set complete with shafts and bearings seems about right.

I would say £150 for a used set with some damage on first is about right

So what would a NOS genuine set be worth ? :D

I paid £250 for a genuine NOS ST straight cut set last year ... but think it was a bit of a bargain :)

I did wonder but the case had significant repair work that is difficult to quantify in terms of reliability and robustness.

I did sell a set before I joined this forum on eBay. Used but very nice - probably had 30 - 40 track outings and no more. They went for £355 if that’s anything to go on? Three keen bidders so that’s another ‘who wants them’ factor

That 190 gearbox, I think is the rarest of the rare, so, even with the damage, someone was bound to cough up large for it.....

A brand new set can be purchased for about 265 Squid I think......minus shafts and bearings.....

Don't forget to add vat to that price.

I am amazed that the bearing kits are the same or more money. Gearbox rebuilds are expensive these days.

I'm in Canada, so, no vat, but, through the nose for shipping......

Yeah, they are.......
