Fuel tank neck grommet

I bought a pair of rubber fuel tank neck grommets (bit of a mouthful) circa 6months ago. The car is still in restoration and has been in the garage and the grommets have started to ‘dry out’ and crack!
I know NOS is favourable but if this is not an option, where would new be best bought from apart from the obvious!

Try lubrication with glycerine.

If you can't get NOS then the only option really are good used ones Drew.

Where did you buy them?

I got the Minispares ones and they look not to bad. A bit more shiny than yours...

Not sure if they are the cheap or expensive ones but they were from MInispares.
I have been coating them up with vasoline with not real results.
Will dig through the old box to see if I have any original ones that need cleaning up!

MS do an Epdm one now to.

I have it on good authority (a certain bearded guy ) that the new MS ones are excellent.

If you find old non-NOS ones - put them in the washing machine at 40deg with some fabric conditioner. Worked perfectly on my old rubber items, it really softens them. Then put on some tyre foam and let it soak in.

Well managed to find a couple of neck rubbers in the bottom of grease box! Not looking to bad, will try the washing method albeit when the wife is out for an hour!
Marcus, you mentioned tyre foam? Is the tyre dressing solution?
Also the profile is less bulky on the original ones (assume this pair are original?)

It is called "Reifenschaum" in German - available from Würth and the likes (Nigrin, Sonax, ..) - probably depends where in the world you live.

Here’s the results, both have come up cleaner and a tad softer, not much tho, after a night of soaking in tyre dressing foam stuff.
The drivers side is a little perished but will do till I can find a better one.
And the drivers side tank hole is to large for the grommet so trimmed one of the new ones down and used it as a second collar. Not great but works
