in Anticipation of a winter engine rebuild looking at what I have and what needs doing the engine as fitted has got a 12G940 head stamped 12G 1805 . I’ve got this 11 Stud head on a 9 Stud engine and Ive never stripped it down
From what I can make out this is quite a good head is it a S or a 1300 GT ? Any ideas what the additional A stamped under the 12G 1805 number is for.

Re: 12G 1805 Cylinder head stamping
AFAIK the 12G1805 was used on the 1300GT, Mk3 S and Innocenti Cooper 1300 (Export). They are indeed 12G940 castings with 12G1805 stamped by the thermostat housing. I have no idea what the A means, mine has a S stamped there.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!
