Hello together,
Recently I have been fortunate enough to find a Autospeed John Rhodes signature wheel. This came with the boss shown below. Inner diamater is 19[mm]. Number of Splines is 48, so should fit a Mini. Stamping on the Boss is `07`But which horn button is supposed to be used with this kind of boss? Is there somebody around who can advice on this one?
Many thanks and best regards
Fabio

Hello together,
Nobody any ideas?
In the meantime I have fitted the Wheel to an old Astrali boss, which does the Job. Fabio

This boss is from Astrali, no hornbutton but

Hi Fabio.
Is was obviously made in the period John Rhodes was a popular racing car driver, this one I guess at the end of the 60th.

Re: John Rhodes Steering Wheel Boss
Hello,
thanks for the feedback.
The wheel dates back to the 60s for sure. Was most likely sold via Wooding from Hamburg.
The boss though should be of a later date. Are there any pictures of the boss with the correct horn button?
And yes the wheel features a signture engraving similar to the one shown on your picture. the finish is more of a bronze/black coating rather than the black paint on you one.
Thanks and regards
Fabio

Re: John Rhodes Steering Wheel Boss
As far as I know the hornpush is the standard bakalite mk1, Paddy Hopkirk had also only the steeringwheel not a special made hornpush.
The Astrali 1A was used a lot on many wheels,
also in the same shape without the 1A on it.
All would take the mk1 bakalite hornpush and
the mk2/3 centre did fit also perfectly in it.
If I find some more info I will let it know.
