I have the original wiper wheel boxes on my 1965 Cooper S which I want to refurbish / restore them. The rotational movement is stiff.
The rubber sleeve on the shaft below the splines is dried and cracked.
The wheel boxes, can they be dismantled for refurbishing ?
I have purchased a pair of reproduction wheel boxes but the quality is not good. The splines, for the wiper arm attachment are not cut to the depth
of the original boxes, thus, the arm is a loose fit on the shaft of the wheel box.
Has anyone restored their wiper wheel boxes or what have you done ?
Thanks for your assistance.

Re: Wiper wheel boxes--how to refurbish / restore
I am just dealing with my wiper assembly.
My wheelbox had a bad spline / knurled knob.
I was able to find a replacement at an auto jumble and it seems to fit just fine.
I also replaced the motor bushes.
The rest of the wheelbox looked OK so I am just going to reinstall.
My problem is trying to reinstall. Not sure the proper order to put things back in.
It is quite tight under there.
