Just a quick question gents... Does anyone on here know where i can get a full clutch assembly balanced, ie clutch plate, pressure plate and diaphragm.

If you want to come south a bit to Northallerton, AMAC engineering has balancing kit

Re: CLUTCH BALANCE.
It's part of the rotating assembly, it absolutely should be balanced.LarryLebel wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:40 am The clutch is quite light, I've never heard of including it in balancing.

Re: CLUTCH BALANCE.
From researching clutches, it seems towards the end of production the whole flywheel/clutch unit was balanced before being fitted which is why Rover then sold them as complete units. Minispares even recommend balancing with new clutch kits but this may just apply to verto setups.

Re: CLUTCH BALANCE.
The clutch driven plate can only be balanced with regard to itself though - and indeed could f*ck up the balancing of the flywheel, backplate and pressure plate if done as part of the assembly.scoop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 12:40 pmIt's part of the rotating assembly, it absolutely should be balanced.LarryLebel wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:40 am The clutch is quite light, I've never heard of including it in balancing.
Given it is something that wears and is consumable, balancing it seems pointless.
And how do you actually alter the balance? The only place you could sensibly make adjustment is right at the hub which will have small effects (or you'll need BIG holes/welds)

Re: CLUTCH BALANCE.
It also 'stops' in a different place every time you use it relative to the clutch pressure plate and flywheel, so 99.9% of the time it will never be 'right' if balanced as part of the assembly.GraemeC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 1:12 pmThe clutch driven plate can only be balanced with regard to itself though - and indeed could f*ck up the balancing of the flywheel, backplate and pressure plate if done as part of the assembly.scoop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 12:40 pmIt's part of the rotating assembly, it absolutely should be balanced.LarryLebel wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:40 am The clutch is quite light, I've never heard of including it in balancing.

Normally pressure plates are balanced by the manufacturer so will not require any further treatment. You can easily ascertain if they have because the splined hub will have a milled flat on it (Unipart, BMC and Borg & Beck plates were like this)
