Mk1 slam panel.
I made the fatal error of chucking out the old panels I stripped from my 66 SDL before realising that some mk1 panels were special.
The bonnet slam panel and front panel is a good case in question.
Does anyone have a photo of what a mk1 slam panel looks like compared to the supposed mk1 one that's available from heritage or magnum?
Alternatively a photo of an m-machine modified version for a mk1.

Re: Mk1 slam panel.
I've got some new and old to compare and can get there at the weekend if no-one else is able?
I do have some on my computer of the top slam panel though. The cut out and the different shape plus extra hole next to the rubber buffer are the obvious things here.

Re: Mk1 slam panel.
Tupers covered this a while ago in one of his build projects, Quite a lot of differences!

If it's any help I've got some mk1 type number plate brackets.

Fair do, that Newton Abbot chap is rather impressive!!
Not sure where his front panel came from though - as the one I have has the more defined bonnet mount and the horn screws already on it???

Re: Mk1 slam panel.
Thanks gents, just what I was looking for. Had no idea the vertical brace had a different set of bends. Learning every day, especially when I see the quality of the fabrication of small steel components to make this panel time correct.
My mk1 has no v5 so I'm just trying to restore some originality prior to inspection by BMC.

Two of my cars have their original panels, a 64 and a 66 - you are welcome to pop up to Swansea to take a socially distanced look

Re: Mk1 slam panel.
Thanks very much, I might take you up on that when I get to the front. Still stuck on floors and arches at the moment.

Re: Mk1 slam panel.
I was just on with this a couple of weeks ago for a hornet front panel. I went a slightly different route and made a complete new panel up. I didn't have to worry about the other areas that need modifying as these are not on a hornet panel

Re: Mk1 slam panel.
Nice one. Must be a good feeling to make one of those from raw steel. Wish I had the tools and mostly the ability. Thanks for showing us.
