early seatbelt mount oriantation

I'm after some advise regards fitting the seatbelt mount back into the exhaust tunnel of my '61. I have the eyelet, a threaded plate and then the nut. I seem to remember the eyelet being inside (obviously  ) then the plate under the floor and then the nut done up tight to the plate but its been about 8 years since I took the car apart!! Is this the correct way to have this as it seems slightly odd to have a nut tightened up to a threaded plate other than to lock the plate off.

Many thanks, Mark.

Stops the plate jiggling round and damaging the paint surface ;)
Its also an FIA requirement for racecar belts :)

Mark,

On my 60 there is a 1/4 UNF bolt that goes into the smaller hole to stop the plate twisting.

You probably know that, thought I'd point it out just in case ;)

Hello Andrew,

Strangely that smaller hole isn't treaded and there wasn't a bolt in it when I stripped the car but it does make sense to have one there, thanks for letting me know.

Mark

No worries Mark

Nut and bolt required as they aren’t threaded as you rightly say :)
