Long term Mk1 ownership will inevitably at some point lead to your posterior dropping through the seat frame as the rubber diaphragm eventually gives way. I recently ordered a new CZH3508 rubber seat base diaphragm for nearly £40 and it duly arrived. This seems to be about the going rate for this item from Mini suppliers. Printed on the enclosed instructions is the manufacturer reference number TRM803, and a quick search of the www has revealed these are also used by Morris Minor owners who wish to upgrade from the original straps. It seems Moggie owners won’t be fobbed with an inflated price though as they can be obtained from a leading supplier at £11.94, a fraction of the cost of Mini suppliers, and whopping saving if you need a pair. Whether they are any good is another matter but they are clearly from the same manufacturer so is there more than one?

Goes to show that as with so many parts on the Mk1, it’s always worth checking MM suppliers for that elusive part before paying silly money elsewhere – the Mk1 heater toggle switch and interior rear view mirror glass are good examples.

This was discussed a while back....if I remember correctly....a lot of the comments were very negative about the quality of the rubber....clips breaking through etc.
I know Newton has sourced a better quality diaphragm....
The ones you linked to sure are a bargain....wonder where they are made and what the quality is like. Anyone have experience with them??
Need to buy some...feedback appreciated.

Unfortunately, they do not sell camshafts. The mini ones are outrageous these days.....

I seem to recall that discusion as well Dermott. The TRM803 reference is not an OE number AFAIK so I can only assume it's the actual manufacturer code, but clearly it's also being sold as a CZH3508 by some so only time will tell if it's a duffer or is actually OK. No reference numbers moulded on it anywhere so if anyone has a Newton example it might be worth checking to see if that is the same? Will report back in a few months on it's performance, or maybe sooner if it fails!360gts wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 3:12 pm <Snip>

As 360gts mentioned, there's rubber and there's rubber. Often you'll only get what you pay for in general for parts, though, I'm not suggesting to go out with a rush of blood and but up all the most expensive parts either, but often one needs to look away from the main stream suppliers for some parts, like rubber, but, if it s priced too good to be true, then it likely is.
But for 11 quid, it might be worth getting one and seeing what it is like.

Just received this response from Morris Minor Spares (East Sussex Minors).
I have been asked before about Mini fitment and I am afraid they do not. We have even tried in time gone. Sorry.
Many Thanks
Scott
