1960 mini seven timing

Post by GarysMK1 »

Good evening , hope all on this site are safe and well.

Looking to set the timing on my mini seven '60. The 3 teeth timing tab is located practally under the crank pulley and are mostly obscured by the engine mount. Cannot see any way to get timing light onto it ? What do other people do who have this early set up ? Or is it just a case of take it out and drive it and tweak distributor accordingly ?

Regards Gary

Do you have the timing marks on the flywheel?

Another alternative is to make a new pointer and install it at a decent location using one of the timing cover bolts. Then you mark the crank pulley at TDC

Tweak away, modern fuels are nothing like what was around in the early 60s, so, timing settings will be different.......
