Crankshaft oil seal protector

Post by Andrew1967 »

Can you, and is it worth, fitting a crankshaft oil seal protector as found on a Verto clutched cars to a non Verto engine, namely a 1275 S engine ?

Just having a look on the usual website to buy an oil seal and noticed the protectors being offered and had the above thought !

Yes you can, and a little extra protection for the clutch can’t be a bad thing.

I always fit one (well 75% of the time - the rest I find it on the bench just after tightening the flywheel bolt  )

They started fitting them about 79, just before the A+ Engines.

Like Graeme, I also fit them. Can't hurt to fit them.
