I am close to finishing up the installation of the engine in my car and I just noticed the speedo cable sitting on the bench! Is it at all possible to instal once the engine is in place?
Yes, I am an idiot!

Oh crikey what a pain!
I know I have done it in the past with the radiator out, but maybe someone on here has more recent experience?

A couple of ways I've done it. One as per Andy's post ^ or pop the LH Hub Top Ball Joint and undo the Unijoint, you should be able to get your hand up that way to screw it on the back of the gearbox.

Re: Speedo cable!?
Appreciate the collective experience here for sure... Since I have the car up on a lift, I have access to the bottom side so I set up a little USB based borescope camera to see the speedo connection point. After several tries, I was able to get the large cable nut to engage on the gearbox without cross threading. After an hour or so of turning the nut maybe a 1/16th of a revolution at a time using finger tips I eventually resorted to a long screwdriver to use the tip in a "cam" action against the heavy knurling. Seems to be reasonably tight at this point so hopefully nothing has to come apart.
