CLASSIC MINI REAR BOOT LID GAPS
SINCE TAKING 2 YEARS TO RESTORE MY MK 3 MINI ,IVE COME ACROSS SOMETHING I HOPE THE FORUM CAN HELP WITH,SINCE REPLACING THE COMPLETE REAR END WITH A HERITAGE BACK PANEL MY BOOT LID WILL ONLY HAVE A CONSISTENT SMALL GAP ALL THE WAY ROUND WHEN NO RUBBERS ARE FITTED WHEN I FIT THE PROPER RUBBER THE GAP AT THE TOP CLOSE TO THE HANDLE IS DOUBLE THE GAP AT THE HINGE END ,IVE BEEN TO LOADS OF SHOWS AND IT SEEMS MOST MINIS ARE THE SAME.

No need to shout old chap !
But Heritage panels have their faults. They might be made made on original press tools, but those tools are now well worn - being potentially 60+ years old and having made 5 million panels.
The other possibility is that the hinges gaskets are thinner than the original type. Try using two gaskets each side between the hinge and rear panel.

Are the rubbers stiff perhaps, and the aperture needs tweaking back in a bit to accommodate them?

You've been watching too much TV. Its a Mini. Gaps were never given much, if any, consideration.
