My nipple is stuck !

As per title,every time I use a grease gun,I can’t get it off the nipple. At the moment I’ve tried to grease the right angled one on the gearbox ( it’s on the bench out of the car)but had to unscrew it as it’s stuck in the grease gun. This has happened whichever gun I use so was hoping someone might know what the @@@k I’m doing wrong.On some grease guns the end is in 2 parts which I’ve undone to release but years ago when I used them you just pulled it off( the grease gun that is.) Advise needed,idiot waiting,

Whenever this has happened to me it’s when it’s not central when pulling off,

Mine is the other way round to Daz’s if it’s in line with the nipple it’s really hard to get off. I bend/twist and pull mine to pop it off.

If you loosen the outer sleeve on the coupling - they are threaded - it will loosen and you can " pull it off "

This sometimes happens to me when the ball in the nipple is not moving correctly and the grease gun still has pressure in it.

The sticking can be caused by newer grease gun fittings being made to metric dimensions. Just too tight on imperial grease nipples. Had this problem when i ordered replacement fittings for work. Ended up binning them and reordering imperial ones.

That’s exactly what I thought. As I’ve said,I was able to unscrew the end to release it, but I used a Silverline one which has a one piece end so its completely stuck. I’ve ordered 3 gearbox remote angled ones from Sommerford in the hope that I can somehow solve this problem.
