Brittains Limited, Brighton Sussex Dealership?
Would anyone happen to have a picture or two of this Morris mini dealership?
Also would anyone happen to have a picture of a dealership sticker from there?
I have acquired an English Morris mini and its heritage certificate tells me: Brittains Limited, Brighton Sussex was its destination and I am curious about it
Thanks

It does look that way.
When I ready your post I googled them to see if I could find anything & there is absolutely no trace. I'm sure they will be listed in one of my dealer lists, but it won't tell you anything that you don't know already.
For someone to have Dealer info, the stars need to align. There were hundreds of BMC dealers all over the country, it is unimaginable that someone on here will remember every one.
Sorry,

I’ll have a look in my little book later. Photos, if they exist, can possibly be found in a local history archive. Also worth asking on the local Facebook groups. There’s also an ‘old garages’ group on Facebook.

What a great picture! I have a book of BMC dealers & distributors dated 1956. Brittains are listed at 233 Preston Road.
Their proprietor was Caffyns Ltd by that stage so I assume that they had been taken over?
They were listed at that stage, as Distributors of Morris, MG and Riley cars.

Now appears to be a Sainsburys, with a new frontage on a clearly much older building.
My wife grew up round there, but can't remember it, although her folks always had BMC cars.

Thankyou for your replies.
Thats a great image. Thankyou.
Was also hoping someone may have picked up a mini at some stage with a dealer sticker still attached that matched that place (wishful thinking, but oh well
)
Thanks again

One of my favourite cars was a 1977 V12 XJ-S that was supplied new by Spink in Bournemouth. I bought and restored it in 1990.

Now you have the picture I'm sure you could come up with a dealer style sticker for it using the font styles and wording on the front of the building, it wouldn't be 'correct' but it would be OK until you come across one (if you ever do)bubbacluby wrote:Thankyou for your replies.

Brittains Limited, Brighton Sussex Dealership
Dealer window stickers were not really a thing in the 1960's, dealer badges and/or key fobs were far, far more common.
Do you know the UK registration number? As previously mentioned on the thread, Brittains were a Morris distributor and may well have supplied to the car to a smaller dealers and not necessarily in Brighton. Even if it does have a Brighton registration, at around that time, just in Brighton and Hove alone, there were twelve Morris dealers.
A member on here has a Cooper S that was despatched to Brittains Brighton but after a bit of pointing in the right direction he found that it was sold to the first owner by a garage some twelve miles from Brighton.

Re: Brittains Limited, Brighton Sussex Dealership?
Replying to a post in the 'old garages' thread prompted me to search for 'Brittains' as it was the dealer referred to on the Heritage certificate for the '67 Van I just bought, and here it is
No dealer sticker / plaque or key fob though, sadly
