Rads

Post by YMJ »

It turns out that I have been running a standard 3-core radiator when I thought I was running a 4-core S type one. Thus by running my 120bhp motor through it, I have been experiencing overheating problems.
How can I tell the difference (at a glance) between standard 3-core, 4 core and the new Minispares hi performance 2 core. Is it how the cores (the vertical bits) are spaced?

Take the rad cap off look into the rad, count the cores across it. 4 core has 4 round holes and likewise, the special V2 core from has 2 elongated wedge shaped core.

So if I look inside and can see two cores opposite each other, then a single centrally placed one, then another two, etc, etc..... that would be a 3-core?

Drove down to MS yesterday and bought a 4442. Whilst I was there I looked at a 4 core. All clear now. Many thanks :)
