Would a late model magic wand box from a mk3 mini be a four syncro ? Also are they a modified remote box as it looks externally different looks like a remote box with a adaptor plate to hold the gear leaver unlike my original on where the lever goes pratically straight into the box on the diff housing? Got this to hopfully make up a 1275 engine for my van!

Yes it will be an 1128 casing. The diff housing is the same on these for wand or remote. The wand is of course different from the early one.

"While the direct and remote change systems are very obviously totally different, they share the same gear selector mechanism inside the gearbox. From late 1968 when the gearbox went over from 3 to 4 synchromesh, they shared the same differential housing too - prior to that, the direct gearchange had its own unique diff housing with a small gearchange tower on it."

The later type magic wand gearlever 22A1382 is also different to pre-68.
