Wiring a Smiths heated rear screen

Hi. I used my Mini last week and as is to be expected the rear glass mists up in poor weather. I do have a screen with a fairly prominent late 60's Smiths heated rear screen element (fairly thisk silver bands probably 6mm wide) and I would like to wire it up. I guess I will need a relay, switch etc but as I have never attempted this before I wanted to ask any of the pro's on this forum for advice. Can anybody help?
Cheers

Come on you lot. Somebody must be able to send me some instructions. I have the element attached to the screen (thick band silver stype popular in the 1960's and 70's) but nothing else. What do I need to make this work? Cheers. Mark

Just seen this.
I think I've got a new in box example somewhere.
If I can find it I'll scan the destructions for you.

Thanks in advance. Mark

hello,
I dont think any of the ones ive ever had had a relay with them?
All they had with the kit was a simple switch panel, flick on/off switch and a iluminated light which is wired from the switch with a pigyback spade terminal to show when its on. No fuses or anything. They also have one long bit of wiring to feed the eliment with a live and a short bit that goes to earth (the two terminals on the eliment)
To be honest there only good for keeping you hands warm whilst you push your car!

ive never wired mine up properly in fear it will unpeel itself with the heat!
joking aside i would use a inline fuse and a relay if your worried about it
if the other chap cant find his box i will have a root and see if theres any instructions in one of my boxes

I did find the box yesterday, but I was unable to post anything last night. So this is the 7th attempt.
Not a Smiths type though, but the wiring diagrams should be similar and no sign of a relay.
WAAAHAAAY, it worked.

Other than Ebay any ideas on where to pick up a stick on heated element? Smiths would be nice as that’s falling off at the moment.
Thanks
