What casing/part #? Early ones need grinding to allow 1275 rods/crank to pass without hitting.
Late types which are 4-sync should be fine.
cheers

It will be a VERY close run thing you will need to grind a lot of material out, on early boxes it is impossible.

I'm pretty sure you will need the 4 sync, 1128 casting box with the remote fitted. As said, the 3 sync is near impossible as grinding takes it really close to break through.
If your stuck with the original box, thought about building a nice 1100?? or do you already have the engine.

I'm running my English Moke with a 1275cc engine and magic wand gear stick! So it can be done.
I think the engine was originally a 1275GT engine. I swapped over the entire diff housing and gave the whole gearbox to someone who rebuilt it for me. The new box is a 4 sync version.

I put a bog standard 1098 on the 3 synchro magic wand box of my 1970 Mk3 850, which was pretty damned good. With a decent head, cam, carb, RC40 and tune up, it would've have been even better
At least, I think it was 3 synchro.......it could have been that the 1st gear was knackered

It's easy if you get the right parts. You will need an A series 1275 primary gear, an 1128 box, a late type magic wand with the locating groove on top and 3 pieces for the diff housing, 22A1717 cover-lever seat, 88G553 shaft and 22A1832 seat-change speed lever.
I just supplied these bits to someone on this board who is putting a big engine in a 1960 car and wants it all to look original.
