1960

Post by steve1071 »

My latest purchase, not sure what I was thinking or what i'm going to do with it. It's an early 1960 with some rare bits still on it.

I seem to remember seeing that on Ebay, or something very similar.
Worth rescuing though. Could be an interesting project methinks. 8-)

It was off ebay, also in Mini World auction watch. I might be able to get the log book and chassis plate which will make it worthwhile, otherwise it'll be put away. Front end is good, inner wings excellent, but it's had a hard life as a grass tracker and has more filler than metal in places! Still has the early doors which is a bonus and what I think is a John Aley rear cage;

steve

thats never been an autograss car, it looks as if its been rally cross car - they ran windows, where as autograss stuff never did.

its a cracking find though - if you want to sell it i could be tempted!!!! :shock:

That look like a bit of fun. Just put an engine in and give it a new coat of Dulux, instant classic rally crosser.

TEAC Thames Estuary Automobile Club, organised the rallycross series at Lyden Hill. I say dont over restore it, top rally cross history.

Certainly looks like its been on its roof a few times.

It's probably got an interesting history, but haven't got a clue where to start. The previous owner knows nothing and the guy he bought it off retained the log book and chassis plate and is slightly mad, apparently.

Rich, you can have first shout if I do decide to sell it. It doesn't stand me at much, but cost me a few quid to get it from Southend. Its down near Nottingham in a pals yard (not Johns) but I might be moving it home soon if you're ever passing and want a look.

Thanks David, didn't see your post, gives me a good starting point. I can contact Jeff Williamson who may also point me in the right direction.
