Summerford "works" exhaust
Looking to change the spec of the car to do some road rallying. I currently run a maniflow single box and although it is without doubt loud. It does sound nice.
In a effort to quiet the car down a little, I am looking at:
A twin box RC40.
A twin box maniflow system.
A Summerford three box "works" system.
I appreciate that the noise also can equate to the engine spec, it's a faily well tuned 1300 but witll the works one pass the 98 db limits? anyone know.
The RC 40 is the ultimate choice when quieting it down, but I do still want it to sound a little sporty.

Re: Summerford "works" exhaust
I have a Sommerfor....well maniflow works exhaust but its a single rear box with a small silencer as well in the middle of the system........its noisy as hell and i doubt would pass a road rally DB test, the 3 box version may do though - ring maniflow and ask Dave if he knows the firgures

Re: Summerford "works" exhaust
I have used in the past the somerford 'works' system which was fine for noise test, and a twin box maniflow which was fine
I've fitted two somerford systems the first was a pig to fit the second much easier
For price and well made i would probably favour Maniflow's own. If you don't want the modern rolled edge tailpipe they will do one for you without it.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
Guess I'm giving Maniflow a call then. The single box system I current have is very well made, I must say.

Hello,
I've a question for STR807 Somerford works exhaust owners. Do you have respray it ? Seems to me that's necessary to replace the genuine black primer for better longevity.

Re: Summerford "works" exhaust
Been using the same single box rc40 on mine since it went on the road in 2004 .
I use the side exit stainless steel version with the large bore tailpipe but it is available centre exit with or without the big bore tail pipe and in mild steel . I believe all RC40 have stainless internals .
Noise is not horrendous , some people say the mild steel and stainless versions have differant sounds .
Fit , cannot fault the fit of a Rc40.

I too have found the RC40 a great silencer. In single box form with cams up to about the 270 degree mark and in twin box for cams with longer duration.
