Evening,
I am wondering if any you knowledgable chaps could offer me some advice with the door latch tongue and how to adjust it. Currently, the doors are a real pain to shut, as it appears that the door latch tongue is hitting the flat surface of the striking plate rather than the tapered part.
Is there any way you can adjust the tongue, without the obvious of cutting it, as there doesn't seem to be any adjustment on the latch?
Any advice is appreciated
Cheers
Chris

Re: Door Latch Adjustment
I don't know why it happens but over time the tongues seem to grow longer and longer. When they've require adjusting I've always done them with a combination of grinding and filing.
The tongues and the bodies of the latches are made out of very soft steel. The bodies are riveted together. The overall impression is that they were built down to a price and they were never intended to be serviced.
WBH (formerly Wilmot Breeden) still make them.
