bonnet jammed!

Post by minitravellerman »

Any tips welcome!

I've close the bonnet on the Traveller to find that it has jammed in the latch. Any tips on how to release it!! Have been working on it for over an hour and it seems to be well and truly stuck

you have to get the grill off, then get someone to press the bonnet down why you try and prise the bonnet pin the right way to clear the sliding catch

its a right fiddle
should you wish, you can contact me on rich@minispares.com

That it is!!!

I've been doing what you suggested. We'll get it open somehow - really annoying

I once had one so stuck that we eventually had to unscrew the bonnet pin out of the bonnet to release it

Sometimes pushing the bonnet down and in or by a sharp tap with the palm of the hand can free them.

Get a thin piece of welding rod or coat hanger or even mig wire , curve it into a "U " shape and thread it through the bonnet gap into and out of the engine bay . Twirl the ends together and now you will have something to move the pin to the right position when it will pop up the bonnet . Someone pressing down on the bonnet slightly may also help .... Ken

Mine does this if someone gets enthusiastic when they shut it so I have to put a screwdriver between the bonnet and the slam panel and give it a gentle tweek or whatever you want , works for me.
