Cooper S Crankshaft

Post by Henry »

Is a AEG316 crank that is at 10 under on the mains and 20 under on the rods already (with visible grooves on one of the rod journals) any good? I've heard that once you go like 30 under you are through the hardening? I'm guessing I'd have to go to at least 30 on the rods or more, and 20 on the mains. Thanks, Jeff

ill gove you £30 for it ;)

nah it should be saveable, dont worry about the hardening as it can be re-hardend. the hard part is getting bearings, i think ive seen -.060" B/E's before!!! dont take my word for it though.

Mains were available at STD , 10 , 20 , 30 , 40 , 60

Big were available in STD , 10 , 20 , 30 , 40 , 50 , 60

All on lead copper , also big ends in 80 but only in aluminum.

Can still be found if you look hard enough , but can be expensive .

Re grind it will be fine.
