I like this bit of the description;

Have had a few emails from anorak's mentioning that this is not a genuine mini moke, As Far as im concerned It is a version of the Mini Moke all details are clear to see on the listing of were and by whom it was manufactured.

So to clear up copied from wikipedia

The AEM (Automotive Engineering and Manufacturing) Scout was a Welsh-built version of the Mini Moke, updated with new, zinc-coated bodywork. It was made for only one year, 1987.

The Scout had a chequered history having previously been made by Import Export of Spalding, Lincolnshire between 1983 and 1985 and after the demise of AEM the design was taken up by The Sun Motor Company of Solihull from 1990 to 1991. Six wheel versions were also made.

Some Die hard fans of Mini Mokes, consider this to be a type of Mini Scamp, rather than an updated or unique version of the Mini Moke. Others however feel that as it contains many similar features, and the only real change is the metal alloy used in the body work it is a unique work, or a type of Mini Moke

Its a version of a Mini Moke in the same way that this

When in Rome David..... :lol: Plus you'd need a good waterprrof one to drive that around. :lol:

Talking of Mokes, which we weren't, I was over at Portmerion t'other day (free entry day over Chrizzy, well worth a visit) and asked if they had one, which of course they don't which is a bit odd. They could certainly afford one or two with the prices they charge ! :shock:

Portmeirion used to have a Moke on display which belonged to the chap who ran the 6 of 1 prsoner society and also the shop in No6's house in the vilage. I'm not sure if it was an original from the series or not.

It's not been there for a long time though. These photos from Flickr are dated as 1987

did you stay in the village? I've stayed a couple of times - it's fantastic having it all to yourself after the gates close.

Tried to Al but they had no rooms for kids to stay in, just diddy rooms for romantic couples, darn those none breeders ! :x

That Moke didn't look particularly appealing with the steel mesh round it which I presume is why it's gone or maybe it started to rot sat out in the open. A few Mokes at the convention by the looks of it, and we think we're anoraks..... :geek:

ah, this is a much nicer topic than that horrid skip of a 'Moke' at the top of the thread.....

I stayed in one of the hotel rooms in the village on my honeymoon, and have since been back to stay in 'Battery' the self catering house on the square outside which the Moke was parked.

I understand there was a major bust up in 6 of 1 society a couple of years ago which would make some of the squables on car forums look like a playground scrap - allegations of phone tapping and inapropriate use of authority etc by one of the leading lights - all very ironic when one considers the themes of the series :lol:

Can't afford to go back for a wee while - probably for my 40th in 3 years.

The wire mesh doesn't add much to the moke though does it?

some of the ones at the convention do look nice. I wonded if one of them is the one that Sussex sportscars had at Goodwood in 2009?

Ha, talk about life immitating art ! :lol: Brilliant, makes those Prisoner scene re enactements so much more real ! :shock: Now once again please with...paranoia..

I did notice when I was there last week the place could do with a lick of paint in many places, especially the concrete boat, though the main hotel's just been done. Always wanted to stay but it's just never happened, one day....

Not sure on this one......

If its one of the ones used in the series its been significantly modified. It looks like an Aussie 13" wheeler.

I suspect that some of the "Prisoners" in the link above may also be klingons;

Probably used because of HSE issue, what with risk assessments and all that stuff. :?

Not back in the mid 80's. It was far more likely to have been there to stop tea leaves from nicking bits of it.

The wire mesh Portmerion Moke looks to be a genuine Prisoner one. I think I remember the chap who had the shop there had a genuine one. I visited there in 87 - and I think I spoke to him -but the Moke wasn't there.

They were Crayford Mokes - and had a more upright screen - you can see this one has one.

I also visited Caterham Cars and spoke to Graham Nearn about the Prisoner Lotus Seven S2 KAR120C - which I read that he said went to Australia. But he told me he thought in hindsite it might have been a New Zealander who bought it. I checked out the 6 or 7 genuine S2 cars here - but none fitted the hsitory. I have since read it was bought by the Lotus Sales manager who on-sold it to a chap who took it to Brazil. And was written off in a crash. But that story has never been verified either.

It is one of the great famous car mysteries I think. The one in the Cars of the Stars museum is not considered one of the two cars used in filming. The orig car was chassis SB2036 from memory. There was another used for just one episode - as the orig had been sold by then. The number plate was kept by Caterham and used for later demonstrators although the plate and car were orig owned by Lotus Sales - the 120C numbers with diferent prefixes were used on various Lotus demonstrators.

Patrick McGoohan drove one of the orig press Cooper S's in Danger Man. HOP732 I think?

from my research at least 3 Lotuses were used.

The 'Arrival' car being featured most in the various episodes, a different car was borrowed for the episode where No6 is played by someone else (Do not forsake me?) which I understand was supplied by Barnet Motor Co (LCK 66D, off the top of my head). This car has a 'formula junior' type steering wheel and a GB plate amongst other distinctive features.

and finaly the 'Fall out' car supplied by Caterham. The Fall out car was apparently not a super 7, as you can see the drum brakes in the photos of McGoohan and Nearn with the car. These shots also show the different attachment of the front number plate. this car was either in stock, or borrowed from a customer and repainted for the occassion ( I think it was yellow?)

I think Graham Arnold is on record as suggesting it could even have been more. If you study the details such as the way the tax disc is held in place, I think it supports there being 4 cars used, but perhaps this was changed from a Desmo holder to tape on differend days of filming on the 'Arrival' car...... Anorak, me????? :lol:
