Re: Electrics!!! HELP!!!
Tim,
Charge up battery, put in battery box and connect earth, but not positive feed lead. Using multimeter set to measure amps check for current between battery positive terminal and battery positive feed lead.
If it's draining a new battery in a couple of days it should be pulling at least half an amp. Then it's a question of tracking down what is causing the drain current.
Are there any non-standard electrics fitted?

Re: Electrics!!! HELP!!!
Thanks for that
New battery is now on charge. No non standard electrics fitted and a new voltage regulator and dynamo recently fitted due to not charging.
When i took the car out for a run at the weekend the battery felt a little warm when i got back after a 30 minute run. Any clues there?
Thanks Tim

Re: Electrics!!! HELP!!!
Did you clean the regulator points before fitting? they sometimes have a preservative on them and if not cleaned off before use will make the contacts stick this then turns the dynamo into a motor when the engine is off, draining the battery in short order, Pardon my pun!!
If you don't have a multi meter you can check for draws with a test light, charge battery and fit positive cable and put the test light between negative battery terminal and ground if you have a draw the light will glow if it is a small draw and bright with large draw. this assumes a negative earth car reverse for positive earth.

Re: Electrics!!! HELP!!!
Tim was it one of those Chinese made voltage regulators ,they are F****n rubbish , I bought one ,It would not drop below 16 volts charging , Exchange one exactly the same ,Now this was from a old established Auto Electrical company, They bench tested and adjusted it, seem as though they are not set correct in China , Complete shite, Look out for a genuine Lucas one, If its this thats giving you the problem it will cook your battery.
