Hi,
What if anything needs to be done to enable an inline block to be used in a transverse application?
Thanks alot

Re: inline blocks for transverse use
As far as I can remember...a couple of issues.
The oil pick up hole is normally threaded...that won't matter as long as the O ring in the geargbox flange will cover the hole.
The other point I remember is the front main cap...it is very different to that on the the transverse block..
You can fix that by doing some grinding/machining on the cap.
Think that is about it. Been a while since I used one...

Re: inline blocks for transverse use
... I have a spare 998cc transverse block going begging.
It's standard size, but needs re-boring...
Could be brought down to Brighton.

Re: inline blocks for transverse use
I have converted several Spridget 1275s to east west. The first couple I set up in the milling machine
and bored the threads out of oil pickup machined a sleeve and pressed it in place. The other mod is the
rear main cap. There is a shoulder on the cap for the oil pan to mate to. It can be set up and faced off in
a mill, lathe or a hack saw and touched up on a belt sander. The upper half of this is bolted to the block
and can be removed and discarded. 1275 cores are harder to find and I will be looking for either. Steve (CTR)

Re: inline blocks for transverse use
I have gone the other way, converting Cooper S blocks to be used in Sprites/A30 etc. Simple conversion to go either way, but surly you could find a block suitable?
