Help I D ing an A series block
I recently picked up a 1275 engine, power unit really. The block does not have a opening for a mech. fuel pump. There is not a threaded hole in the area either. I think it may be a 1275 GT. It has a 940 11 stud head with forged rockers 1.3. The owner claims there is an EN40B crank and S rods inside. Plan a look though dizzy opening with bore scope. Unit is rebuilt with .020 bore 7 cc dish pistons Kent billet cam 510 Cooper S, balanced squared and zero decked. 1128 remote with S ratios and Hardy Spicer drives. All bearings, synchros and forks replaced. A+ diff cage with new parts. Unit has only 20 minute break in on engine test stand with Brad Penn break in oil. Steve (CTR)

Steve, is there a casting number on the block? This will help identify the block.

Re: Help I D ing an A series block
It is a closed back block. on the back close to water pump end cast in small numbers 096 about half way to other end 282 turned side ways and lower rear corner 12 G 1279 the 9 is cast poorly. There is a place for the 1275 tag held on with drive rivet missing now. I will get a bore scope and have a look around inside. I know the tranny is fully rebuilt with COP freshly bushed and line honed side covers. Steve (CTR)

Re: Help I D ing an A series block
Having read some of another thread about 1275 GTs I'm not claiming this unit was delivered with EN40B crank and S rods. The owner had enough parts to build three engines short one S block. I realize an S block would add value to this unit. Once I confirm the contents either with a scope or by pulling the tranny I will be offering this one for sale. Steve (CTR)
