Cooper Boot Boards

Post by STG95F »

Am i correct in thinking Cooper/s Boot boards was covered in the same grey as the cars Veltone/carpets ?

As you see from the photos is hard to tell if originally it was the same grey as the carpet inside the car ??

Yes, if it has Veltone carpet in the car, the boot board is very likely Veltone with a grey vinyl border unless the build date is near the change point for Veltone carpet.

Clean might be pushing it a bit, but it is original & you can tell whats what. The colour is the same as the carpet.

Will sort pic this evening.

There is no supplier for Veltone carpet. There was once, but once Newton became predominant in the Mini Trim market they got out.

Currently they can only offer their repro Veltone type carpet in black. I have asked them on a number of occasions what it woudl take for them to do grey & red again, but they simply aren't interested.

The company was once called the British Trim Company, but is now BAS International.

It does look "sort of" right. Shame the pics are so horrendous.

They would sell well ... But how could they be made if no one will manufacture Veltone carpet?

Here is a picture of a different type boot board.
The early Super type, with its metal fin battery protector plate.

in australia we used black 'Hardura' on our boot boards no matter what the carpet.

but....looking at the BAS website for something else I noticed the 'autolux'.
Is that close to the 'velotone'?
