Indicators not working when lights are on

I have a 1968 innocenti mini 850. After being off the road for a few years, I finally took it for a spin today. All ok apart from the indicators. They work fine when the headlights are off but as soon as I switch on the lights, the indicators stop working. I don't think that the dynamo is faulty because the lights remain very bright and the battery recharges.
The battery is new and fully charged.

When your indicators are on , you obviously have a live and earth going to them . So put your indicators on and turn on the headlights . In your case your saying the indicators will not work with your headlights on ...... So put a tester on the indicator wires to see if it's the live or earth wire which is not working .9 times out of 10 it will be the earth wire . If it's the earth you can simply run another earth to the shell .... Ken
