Hello
I have an CKD Aus 850 body No 7*** which I believe is Jan '62 release
Along with the 7k No. the No's on the car are 61744 but the plate has 83109.
I believe one of these would have been the body No if it was sold in the uk and not sent to Aus CKD.
Does any one know what period of UK production (months) these No's fall into?
Thanks
Body No's

Yep.
So this is the body stamping The lower No is the one I'm interested in, 61744
And this is the ID plate The 83109 is the one I'm interested in on this one.
But generally what month are these no's from?

Does it have an FE plate on the inner wing above the radiator cowling?

Oh NOOOOooooooooooo,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
You've voided your Guarantee,,,,,,
I'm not 100% certain, but fairly sure of this.
When they are stamped that way, they weren't CKD, but fully imported completed bodies, or a complete car (more likely). I'm reasonably sure that the CKD Panels as delivered weren't stamped at all.
The 83109 is a number allocated by the UK factory.
The 61744 would have been stamped in the UK and painted over, the 7*** series would have been stamped (locally) after it had been painted, so the paint would have been damaged by the numbers.
The 7*** series is the local Aust No. and for legal purposes / guises this is supposed to be the no, used to ID the car, though I'm sure the local (coff coff idiots) authorities used the numbers as appears on the plate.

No, no plate on the rad cowl. What would it mean if it did?Simon776 wrote:Does it have an FE plate on the inner wing above the radiator cowling?
Bummer! There were a few things I'd like to talk to the manufactures about.Spider wrote:Oh NOOOOooooooooooo,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Looking at the table on this forum post http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... 0&start=30
The 80,000 No lines up with the 7,000 No. Which makes sense.
I'm wondering if the 60,000 No. means the body was made in June '61?
My floor pan has a straight rib in it where later models have a bent rib.
There is a guy on here with a UK Nov '61 mini and it has the bent floor pan rib?
Mmm...

It would be a good guide to the build date of the bodyshell. No, no plate on the rad cowl. What would it mean if it did?
