Tulip Boss & Les Leston ?

Post by m1cH1 »

Hi together,

can a 6-bolt Les Leston steering wheel (with large center hole; slotted type -> like the one which used to be in "33EJB") be used with a regular tulip boss? (e.g. MotoLita or Astrali)
Does the hole pattern of one of these match the one of the LL wheel without redrilling the hub?

It would be a nice option as original 6-bolt LL hubs for the mini seem to be rare as hen´s teeth and the tulip boss would also nicely accommodate a standard type horn push (without the hassle of finding the proper LL front ring)...

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
I've just tried the wheel with a tulip boss, unfortunately it won't fit.
Although the centre hole is same size, the screw holes of the LL wheel are close to the edge and won't line up with the holes of tulip boss, unless you enlarge them. Hope this help.

Thank you Ted! One more little question: Do you know if your tulip is one from Moto Lita or one from Astrali?

That´s what I feared... Then the only possibility I see, is redrilling one with a hole pattern that suits my needs or try to get a blank one from Moto Lita to drill it accordingly...
