Heated rear window repair

Post by Th4neuk »

Hiya,

Am going to be taking the glass out soon to begin welding but wondered is it possible to repair a smith's stick on heated rear screen? It appears to have lost a connection where it sticks onto the screen? Am going to try and take it out carefully but presume it is worth saving if I can?

Thanks

I found somewhere the other day that did kits, mines missing both. Looks workable, there's a chap on eBay that sells the cosmetic sticker for covering the electrics from the outside.

I'll just try and find the link. Can you post up an image of what the connector looks like?
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

Will do. I'll take a pic tomorrow of both the inside and out.

Cheers

Most heater screen elements can be fixed with the above silver conductive paint.

I'm trying to find the link for the site in us I found before. They had a conductive glue for putting the wire connectors back on. Thats what mine needs as a start and the silver paint as well :-)

Most super glue conducts electricity quite well.

But do a test first.

In a former job we used to use conductive silver epoxy for terminating some electronic components. I used silver paint to fix de-fogger window traces and the silver epoxy for fixing terminals to the glass.
