Mk1 Pick-up original spec
Hi I've got a got a Mk1 '62 Morris Pick-up that I'm currently restoring and I'm wondering if anyone could shed some light on how it would have left the factory.
I know it would of had a single speedo but what type?
How would the interior have looked as I can't find any decent photos?
And also any engine bay shots would be great.
I may end up doing a Deluxe pick-up if some of the original parts aren't available as sadly all I have is the rolling shell.
thanks in advance.
Matt

Hi Matt,
I'm doing a '75 pick up at the moment
Your car should have a silver face speedo with the red tipped plastic needle - may be able to help you out there if you need one
Depending on colour (I think) most pick ups and vans had a tan interior - unfortunately a colour that Newton have not reproduced yet. The door and dash cards are just that 'card' rather than vinyl on millboard. Rubber floor covering - almost impossible to find.
Other than that the interior is pretty much as per a standard Mk1 saloon of the era. Engine bay is identical to a Mk1 saloon.
Depending on what you want, standard pick-ups will be worth more than a modified one but do with it as you please

Didn't early vans and pickups have a lower compression engine and different ignition automatic advance curve.
In the early 70's my friend put an MG1100 engine and gearbox in his pickup, kept the 1100 final drive, so it was low geared, but boy did if move!

Yes, you are right about the LC engine, not sure if the high comp engine was an option ?

I thought the interior was going to be an issue. I would like to restore the car to original spec but if I can't get the interior correct I may opt for a more up market spec.... like carpet! Flash I know

rust gives it patina.

Thanks for the pictures 850man
I can see me having a hard time getting any of that rubber mating. Especially in a condition good enough that I'd be happy to fit it.
Would a Mk1 pickup be so bad with some period mods?
