Folks,
Just replaced the window channels/runners and now the window catches 'don't want to' locate in the locking holes! (windows slide nice and freely).
Anyone had this 'problem'?..........what's the answer?

This is fairly common.

Try slackening the bolts for the window catch off a bit, they should now manage to locate in the holes, re tighten with locks located in the holes. Job done.

Ovalize the holes.

don't buy stainless channels have the original rechromed.

As above plus if you've not sealed and screwed it all in already it'd be worth checking whether the top channel is not a little too thick.

Instead of sitting on the fence i am going to stick up for the restorers of these cars that are trying to make a livelihood,

You could buy a stainless window runner for £20 and some repro window catches for £25ish per side and guess what they Won't work

OR

you can spend hours trawling the net or shows, find some originals that need rechroming for say £10-15 spend an hour or more taking them to the chromers (another £20 for chrome) and also have to collect them back, then try and find some original catches that just need a clean up and hey presto you have the same set up as above but its cost 2-3-4 times the ammount, BUT it works properly.
