my rust bucket is currently trundling along with it's single weber 45....all seems to be fine. However, if i decide to put my foot down on the throttle a bit, the car just fills up with the smell of fuel...straight through the bulkhead and centre binnacle. Lift off again, and it will dissipate after a while.

Any suggestions as to what this might be? I can't see anything obvious going on. All the fuel lines etc seem to be good and i can't see any fuel leakage.

Probably just "stand off" from the back of the carb. This is where you get a cloud of fuel vapour sitting just outside the carb trimpet. Very common on webers.

Nevertheless a cleaned or new air filter should help.

that has prompted me to start reading...and it's lead me to velocity stack lengths (due to Mk1 mentioning 'stand off'), filters (thnx Astro) and even MED's 45DCOE DCR intake system!! Not sure how i got to that last one, but I assume google put filter, velocity stacks and weber together and got that one...

Anyway..bedtime reading me thinks.

if there is enough place, perhaps one of these chromed filter boxes and just 15mm trumpets inside.
