Covering strip, grey

Post by 66S »

Hi,
Does anybody know where to buy the grey cover strip used on Mk1 doors and leading edge of the rear seat base? Part number I have is 14A 2190.

Thanks
Al

Al, I don't think it's available at the moment. It occasionally turns up as NOS on the usual website and can make silly money.

I'm sure someone will have some spare used strips somewhere though.

It was fitted from 59 to 69?

Mini's I've seen with it still fitted, '70 Thou '76 GT. '79 Thou, '86 City 'E, '86 Mayfair and a couple '89 Thirty's. So pretty sure it was fitted to all.

Thank you Smiffy,

I always saw this on the edge of the rer seat, but I never seen it on the door.. eventhough when I bought my mk1 20 years ago, it was unrestored and I didn't have this on the edge of the door..

I would say the almost all of production of sliding window doors used it but I am not sure if it was there from the very start of production. The same applies for the seat strip, not sure about real early but there until the end of production.

Its almost impossible to take of a picture of it fitteed to the door as it faces in on the bottom return edge of the top rail. It was placed there to stop people cutting their hand while opening the door.

the stuff on the door falls of really easy if the door is slammed, and its quite awkward to snap back into place, I suspect most people just threw it in the bin once it fell into the door pocket.
