We (Pete) have already had contact with the Mini press. It would be nice to get something a bit wider too, but we will see.

Been getting offered some fantastic cars to attend on the day. Don't want to name and shame them just yet but ex championship winning race cars, Radford 'as found' project, S&A Minisprint, a brace of the very earliest 1071's in existence and a works rally car just for starters.

I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to keep this thread interesting and topical until I get more news about booking, so I'll shut the f*ck up for a bit now.

I'd heard a rumour you were returning to the fold.

Incidentally we've also been offered the possibility of timed runs at the end of the day. Personally I also think we should run the day in group sessions, otherwise you end up with a huge queue if it's open pit and as popular as I suspect it's gonna be.

I don't rate sessioned days at all, the few I've I done you seem to get such little track time with lots of hanging around, I've never experienced queues of any size at previous Javelin open pits days I've done. You could split it if you want to though, sessions in the morning with open pit after lunch?

That is the current plan, but the nice thing is that when we fill all the spaces we can to all intents & purposes do what we want.

Whizzo's gonna come along for the day and Jumpin Jeff has also expressed an interest. I've also invited some other sporting personalities, will report back soon.

Booking line should be open by the end of next week.

I've checked the site plan and there's a large enough grass area right next to the paddock road to park any club/display cars that attend , in fact park any Minis up that come along for the day. There's also enough room for people to sell bits if they want to so a modest trade section could be in the offing. Quality over quantity though eh ? :)

'the right crowd, and no crowding'..............

maybe you should set a system up where people could be 'black balled' and turned around at the gate for 'not been the right sort'

As this is up the road for me and I've wanted to try Blyton I'll see how the finances are in the new year, but it seems rude not to !!

Yup, that's the fella. Here he is in rallycross action in his 8 port Wolseley Hornet :

That Hornet shell was supplied nil gratis by British Vita (probably through Poole) after Tony Lanfranchi (driving the Vita rallycross car) smashed into his previous car.

This looks like a brilliant event , well done for organising .

Count me in but cannot commit track time at the moment , my car may or may not be finished by then , having said that it must be on road by June as I am going to France on holiday in it so fingers crossed. Perhaps I will follow Dean from Eastbourne up if he finally gets his done in time .
Might have to go up in my wife's Equinox but will not be able to take it on track . Gearbox was starting to make itself known on return of last French trip and I think a track run would finish it off . What is it with injected gearboxes ? Car has not even done 40,000 miles .

As this is a mk1 performance organised event but open to all Mini's how about flying the mk1 flag by having a mk1 only session or maybe a cavalcade of mk1's on the track ?
Perhaps a cavalcade is more likely to lure the owners out who do not want track time .
I am talking about mk1's with real mk1 bodyshells not the likes of Sports Pack Coopers with 1965 registrations . Would be interesting to see how many could be mustered .
