Don't forget this is for any Mini, not just 'old uns', it's not a race or a 'pissing competition',it's a day's fun. You'll need any skid lid that'll squeeze over your nut and a driving license. That's it !
Blyton are keen to accomodate us, there's tons of room for track cars, visiting cars, camping, arm wrestling, whatever... They have good facilities and the track is nice and twisty, quite quick and there's lots of run off so very safe. Whether we get sufficient numbers necessary to do it on our own financially or not we'll still be doing this but will have to share the track if we can't, (which we'd rather not).

As I say track tuition will also be available from a very experienced driver, we can have a good natter, look at some nice cars, buy and sell bits between us and have a good 'ol Mk1 Performance day out.

I'm also looking into the idea of sponsorship.

Sounds just what the forum/everybody needs, i'm sure i could get a well known Mini driver to join in but my gut feeling is it's a bit too far away from Somerset too commit right now, i'll keep chatting and see what expires.

Fabulous idea!

We could easily have a "class" for track novices in bog standard cars and even 850's. How great would that be to see 850's on track ?

In terms of hiring the track / marshalls /medics the killer for this is actually the Vat ! :?

May 11th. It's open pit , ie you can go on when you want. I suspect a few 'offline' people I know will also be interested in this.

Just to re emphasise.

We need a MINIMUM of 30 cars committed to be able to book the track, if we can get this sort of number Pete & I will be prepared to put our money where our mouths are.

I reckon interest is looking good considering the plan has been about for less than 24 hours, but it REALLY is a matter of numbers.

Please have a serious think about this, it could be a brilliant event & if you have any mates who you think would enjoy it, bring them too.

I would be happy to send a deposit to you. Perhaps if the YES people all did this it would make it more of a certainty that people would turn up and less chance of being out of pocket??? What do the YES men think??? Cheers

I'd be willing to pay a deposit or the lot up front.

Will your car have to be fitted with seat belts, as some of the pre 64 have none ?

Yes would loved to get involved.price is fair/ top end, but on the other hand were can you get a open track for a day for that money with only minis. . You racer boys out there will make the most of it.
But can can't commit at the moment , as car is still in the rebuild stage and a bit of a drive from the south coast.

I know it no good now , but if this does get over 30 cars, and things plan out. Then nearer the date I may join in.

Hope it does go ahead as it would be a good event.

Hmm, think a calendar rather than a stop watch might be needed to time my 850 round a track

Unable to attend but sounds great, hope it all goes well for those who can!
